The County Assembly of Siaya, yesterday, during its afternoon sitting, approved Governor Cornel Rasanga’s nominees to the County Public Service Board.

The unanimous decision was arrived at after a rigorous vetting exercise carried out by the House Committee on Appointments, chaired by

Speaker George Okode
The approved nominees who have satisfied the provisions of Section 58 of the County Governments Act, 2012, read together with the Public Appointments (County Assemblies Approval) Act, No. 5. of 2017 are:-
1. Dr. Elijah Ochieng Achoch – Chairperson
2. Magaga Alot – Member
3. Joseph Rading Otieno – Member
4. Joan Atieno Odawa – Member
5. Anne Akinyo Ludenyo – Member
6. Dr. Margaret Akinyi Oloo – Member
The previous list of nominees to the Siaya County Public Service Board tabled and debated in the House on 29th August, 2019 was rejected since the process didn’t adhere to the values of integrity, competitiveness and meritocracy.
However, courtesy of a report laid on the Floor by Usonga legislator, Hon. Sylvester Madialo, the House observed that the process leading to the current nomination, as evidenced by the recruitment report and associated documents, exhibited principles of competitiveness and meritocracy as provided for in the County Governments Act, 2012, the Public Appointments (County Assemblies Approval) Act, No 5 of 2017 and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission recommendation on persons nominated for appointments and requiring approval of County Assemblies.
Consequently, the resolution of the House will be forwarded to the Governor, who will now formally appoint the nominees as members of the County Public Service Board.
