VETTING OF NOMINEE FOR THE POSITION OF CHIEF OFFICER FOR DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM, CULTURE, SPORTS AND ARTS.

The County Assembly Sectoral Committee on Tourism, Culture, Sports and Arts chaired by Hon. Dorothy Oinga this morning vetted Mr. Ogeda Richard Ayoo, the County Chief Officer nominee for the Department of Tourism, Culture Sports and Arts.
The nominee holds a Masters Degree in Education, Guidance and Counseling and a Bachelor of Education (Science) Degree, both from Egerton University.
The nominee has versed experience drawn from the field of academia and in the public and private sector. He has worked with the Lake Region Institute of Innovation in Appropriate Technologies (L-RIAT) to empower communities in matters agribusiness and the Millennium Promise- Kenya in the implementation of millennium development goals.
During the exercise, the nominee expressed his commitment to use his networks to marshal development partners who can build modern hotels along the county’s beaches, promote water sports and improve the existing tourist sites in the county.
In his plan to improve sports and arts in the county, the nominee committed to carry out talent search and initiate mentorship programs, develop a Siaya county sports academy, improve playing facilities and deploy scouts to identify and build talents from the grass root level.
He further assured the committee that he will blend his experience with the operations of the county and vowed to consult at all time for the smooth running of the Department of Tourism, Culture Sports and Arts.
The Committee retreats for report writing and is expected to table a report in the House on the suitability of the nominee.
