The Commission On Administrative Justice pays a courtesy Call to The Assembly
SIAYA, 7th June – The office of The Ombudsman (The Commission on Administrative Justice -CAJ) led by its Vice Chairperson Washington Sati and the Commission Secretary/ CEO, Ms. Mercy Wambua today paid a courtesy call to the County Assembly where they were hosted by House Speaker Hon. George Okode.
The visit to the Assembly comes in the wake of a spot check exercise that was carried out by the Commission from 9th to 13th May 2022 in the counties of Siaya, Kisumu, Bungoma, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kakamega, and Vihiga.
The spot check was aimed at assessing the County Governments against a set of service standard requirements with the objective of establishing the level of compliance of the counties in regard to grievance redress and access to information. The spot check further aimed at establishing the specific interventions and technical support required by the counties to overcome the challenges faced in setting up and operationalizing the complaints handling and access to information infrastructures.
Key among the issues deliberated during today’s visit are the spot checks findings and the various aspects of complaints handling mechanism and the domestication of the access to information law by the county.
