The County Assembly Speaker, Hon. George Okode, had a session this afternoon with the Siaya Climate Smart Action Caucus, led by Dr. David Oremo, where the team outlined their transformative vision for Siaya County’s socio–economic and environmental future through the establishment of the Siaya County Development Authority (SCDA).
The Siaya County Development Authority (SCDA) embodies a bold and innovative strategy rooted in a strong legal framework. This framework aligns with international commitments designed to establish Siaya County as a leader in climate-resilient and inclusive green economic development, as well as equitable resource management for sustainable growth.
The SCDA’s objective is to drive socio-economic transformation by implementing inclusive governance, mobilizing green finance, boosting climate-resilient value chains, and fostering low-carbon innovation.
The Speaker applauded the team for initiating a legislative proposal and committed to task the relevant Assembly committee to consult the executive arm of the county government, assess the suitability of the Siaya County
Development Authority, examine possible conflicting roles with existing departments, review budgetary provisions, and gather public input through public participation.
