House Committee Interrogates Governance CECM

News

The County Assembly Committee on General Oversight chaired by House Speaker, Hon. George Okode, this morning held a meeting with the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) in charge of Governance and Administration, Mr. Dismas Odhiambo Wakla.

The CECM appeared before the Committee to shed light on the circumstances upon which approval for construction of temporary business structures on Siaya Town/ Block 1/289 and Siaya Town/ Block 1/R.292 were sought and issued during his tenure as the CECM incharge of Lands and Physical Planning.

In his submission, Mr. Wakla reiterated that ‘the County Executive had taken a position not to allow the mushrooming of temporary structures in urban centres within the County and had prohibited approval of construction of temporary structures in Siaya town and other urban areas.’

Mr. Wakla was accompanied by the County Secretary, Mr. Joseph Ogutu and the Acting CECM in charge of Finance, Mr. Adrian Ouma.

The Committee is expected to submit its report with findings and recommendations to the House for further deliberations and debate.
