SIAYA MUUNGANO NETWORK VISITS THE COUNTY ASSEMBLY OF SIAYA

Wednesday, March 16th, 2022

In an effort to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of their engagements with the County Assembly, Siaya Muungano Network in partnership with Amref-Health Africa in Kenya and Network of Adolescent Youth in Africa (NAYA) on Tuesday 15th March visited the Assembly where they had fruitful deliberations with the House Committee on Education on enacting policies and Legislations that champion the interest of the youth.

The County Assembly has partnered with the Organisations in accomplishing issues bordering on participatory governance, review of policies and Legislations and championing for youth and women rights. This has been done through support to the House committee on Education, Youth Affairs, Gender and Social Services.

Notably, Siaya Muungano Network supported the Education Committee during the consideration of Siaya County Youth Training and Empowerment Bill, 2021.

Education Committee Chairperson Hon. Lorna Adida lauded the Siaya Muungano Network and its partners for their sustained support to the County Assembly, noting that they have been valuable in the implementation of the Assembly’s mandates.

She further challenged them to check on the development of regulations that will ensure the effective implementation of the Siaya County Youth Training and Empowerment Bill, 2021.

On his part, Siaya Muungano Network Program Coordinator, Mr. Hillary Omondi echoed their commitment to collaborate with the County Assembly in a bid to ensure the smooth implementation of the recently passed Siaya County Youth Training and Empowerment Bill, 2021 as well as the consideration of the Gender Equality and Women Empowerment Bill and The Persons with Disability Bill.
