Wednesday, 19th July, 2023
The County Assembly of Siaya, yesterday had the pleasure of hosting History and Government students from St. Barnabas Girls Secondary School – Barkorwa who came on a study visit.
These visits help students see in real time what they learn in school and conceptualize what they are aspiring to be.
The 150 students were taken through the roles of the County Assembly in the devolved county government system of governance.
They also got an opportunity to tour various sections of the Assembly where they learnt about the structure and history of the Legislative arm of the County Government of Siaya from its inception to the current 3rd Assembly.
The students also got a rare opportunity to sit in the hallowed Chambers where Members of the County Assembly conduct the Plenary Sessions.
The school visits offer exposure to students and enables them to understand how laws are made and how debates in the House are conducted. The lessons learnt by these students are critical in expanding their perspectives and performance.
The County Assembly of Siaya is open to all and sundry. Schools that wish to visit the Assembly for learning purposes can place a formal request through the office of the County Assembly Clerk indicating their preferred date of visit.
