HOUSE COMMITTEE ON AGRICULTURE VETS CHIEF OFFICER NOMINEE

The nominee for Chief Officer for the Department of Agriculture, Food Security, Livestock and Fisheries, Elizabeth Atieno Odongo, appeared before the Sectoral Committee on Agriculture this afternoon for vetting.
Having worked in several ministries at the national government in the formulation of different policies, the nominee emphasized on the importance of resource mobilization, enhanced partnerships and access to information as key pillars of growing the agricultural sector in the county.
If approved, she promised the Hon. Fredrick Omoro led committee that she will embark on the implementation of current policies domiciled in the attendant docket and the eview of some programmes with a view to rope in the private sector as well as NGO’s in the enhancement of quality service delivery.
Elizabeth Atieno Odongo holds a Master of Science in Public Health Promotion from Brunel University London and a BSc in Agricultural Economics and Food Marketing from Reading University.
The Committee has retreated to prepare a report on the suitability of the nominee and thereafter the report will be tabled in the House for consideration.
