HOUSE COMMITTEE ON ROADS AND PUBLIC WORKS VETS CHIEF OFFICER NOMINEE

The County Assembly Committee on Roads, Public Works, Transport and Communication chaired by Central Sakwa MCA, Hon. Eng. Bismarck Olang’o today undertook the vetting of nominee for Chief Officer for the Department of Energy and Transport Eng. Kevin Okoth Ajuul.
Eng. Ajuul, a civil engineer, promised to implement the department’s strategic plan and ensure the implementation of policies to ensure seamless service delivery.
He vowed to craft a policy on fleet management of county vehicles to ensure efficient and effective utilisation of the county vehicles.
Having previously served as Ag. City Engineer, City of Kisumu, and a structural engineer with the County Government of Kisumu, Eng. Ajuul stated to the Committee that if approved, he will foster cordial inter-agency collaboration to bring sanity in the county’s public transport.
He further vowed to work with the committee to craft key legislation that will initiate the regisration of Public Service Vehicles and the identification of pick-up and drop off points for passengers within the County.
The nominee further highlighted the need to mechanize the gravelling of roads within the County and promised to champion for the designing of roads that are friendly to pedestrians.
The 35 year old nominee holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Innovation for change in Public Transport from Lund University and a Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.
The Committee is expected to table its report on the suitability of the nominee in the House next week.
