I WILL WORK ON MODALITIES OF ENHANCING THE COUNTY’S REVENUE COLLECTION, NOMINEE FOR CHIEF OFFICER BUDGETING AND PLANNING, TELLS COMMITTEE

The nominee for County Chief Officer for Budgeting and Planning, Mr. Jactone Ouma Odinga, has told the Assembly Committee on Budget, Appropriations, Planning and Vision 2030 that if his nomination is successful, he will work on the formulation of policies that will help in the realization of the county’s own source revenue targets.
Speaking when he appeared before the Committee for vetting, Mr. Odinga promised to involve key stakeholders including the business community in ensuring that there is adequate understanding and cooperation in the management of local revenue collections.
Mr. Odinga cited his wealth of experience in the management of public finance as a crucial asset that he would deploy to help steer the docket to greater heights.
If approved, the nominee vowed to prioritize the alignment of planning documents with the budget estimates to ensure smooth flow of proposed programmes. He said he will do this through constant engagements with the County Assembly Budget, Appropriations, Planning and Vision 2030 Committee.
The nominee also undertook to prioritize the sensitization of members of the public on the essence of public participation in the budget making process.
Mr. Odinga currently serves the County Government of Siaya as the Ag. Chief Officer Finance. He has previously functioned as the Director Finance and the Director Planning and Budgeting. Between 2013 – 2017, he served as the pioneer Member of County Assembly for Ukwala Ward during which he served as the Chairman of the County Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee.
The Committee is scheduled to retreat to prepare its report for consideration by the House next week.
