The two nominees appeared before the committee to have their credentials checked and their suitability for the posts tested pursuant to the provisions Section 14 of the Urban Areas and Cities [Amendment] Act, 2019.

First nominee to appear before the Committee was Ms. Morphine Achieng Orao. A teacher by profession, the nominee cited the need to decongest market centers in Siaya and the operationalization of the bus park as her key priorities if approved by the committee. She also stressed the need to overhaul the drainage systems within the municipality.

The second nominee before the panel was Mr. Otieno Luke Ogutu. He holds a BSc in Environmental Science from Egerton University and has been a small business owner in Bondo town for fourteen years. He voiced his commitment to better the lives of those around Bondo Municipality and asserted the need to address the water scarcity in Bondo. He further swore to use his vast knowledge in matters environment to advocate for proper solid waste management.

The Committee is expected to table its report on the suitability of the nominees in the House next week.
