The Assembly provides an open and interactive platform to learners as part of its outreach program to allow learners familiarize with its mandate and operations, and enhance civic awareness and visibility. The educational tours are aligned with the academic curriculum and learning objectives and offer students the opportunity to reinforce classroom concepts in a dynamic and interactive setting.

During the visit, the fifty-six (56) students who were accompanied by their teachers, were taken through the structure of the devolved system of governance, the roles of the County Assembly, the relationship between the National Government and the County Governments, budget and law making processes, mandates of sectoral committees and other critical functions of the County Assembly.

The students also visited the County Assembly Chambers where they learnt how House Sessions are conducted, the sitting arrangement, and the does and donts within the Chambers.

Their visit comes at a time when the students are preparing for the forthcoming Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations. The educational outings expose the students, enhance their understanding and expand their perspectives and performance.

The County Assembly of Siaya is open to all. Schools that wish to visit the Assembly for learning purposes are welcome. The request may be placed through their respective Member of County Assembly, or by contacting the office of the County Assembly Clerk. The request should indicate the name of the institution, the preferred date of visit, as well as the number of students/pupils and the accompanying staff. Alternatively, walk-in visitors can approach security officers at the gates for guidance.
