PETITION ON THE ALLEGED UNFAIR DISMISSAL AND NON-PAYMENT OF HEALTHCARE WORKERS.

The County Assembly has received a petition from 259 healthcare workers requesting an investigation into their alleged recruitment, deployment, and subsequent dismissal from the Siaya County Public Service. To facilitate this investigation, the affected persons are individually called upon to submit their employment-related documents for verification within seven days.
Upon receipt of the documents, the House Committee on General Oversight, which is seized of the matter, will invite each petitioner individually for a verification exercise and interrogation to be undertaken within the subsequent seven days, in the presence of relevant county government officers.
Within another seven days after the verification process, the House will consider the Report of the Committee and share its recommendations with relevant bodies and stakeholders for action.
In conducting the investigations regarding the issues raised in the Petition, the House Committee on General Oversight will be guided by the following objectives:
1. To determine the circumstances under which the petitioners individually found themselves in the service of the County Government as employees
2. To determine the circumstances under which each petitioner was allegedly stopped from performing the functions that they alleged to have been performing in the County Public Service
3. To establish the status and authenticity of alleged employment documents held by individual petitioners, such as offer letter, acceptance letter, appointment letter, deployment letter, arrival letter, and any other relevant document
4. To establish any wrongdoing on the part of the concerned parties involved in the matter
5. To make appropriate recommendations on a case-by-case basis, for actions by relevant bodies
Any member of the public with information relevant to the ongoing investigation may submit it within the specified time frames. Submissions must be made in the form of sworn affidavits or statements under oath.
