APPROVAL HEARING FOR THE NOMINEES IN THE POSITIONS OF CECM

The County Assembly’s Committee on Appointments, chaired by Speaker George Okode, have today vetted the nominees to the County Executive Committee submitted by Governor James Orengo. The approval hearings are being conducted in line with the Assembly’s constitutional mandate to assess the suitability, competence, and integrity of the nominees before their appointment to office.

The following Nominees were vetted for the positions of County Executive Committee Member (CECM):-

1. Joseph Rading Otieno – CECM for Governance and Administration.
2. George Odhiambo Nyingiro – CECM for Finance and Economic Planning.
3. Christine Jenifer Akinyi, – CECM for Trade, Cooperatives, and Industrialization.
4. Grace Agola – CECM for Education, Youth Affairs, Gender, and Social Services.
5. Willis Okoth Ochieng – CECM for Agriculture, Irrigation, Food, Livestock, and Fisheries.
6. Erick Abungu Odawa – CECM for Public Works, Roads, Energy, and Transport.
7. Ochogo Nicholas Kut – CECM for Tourism, Culture, Sports and Arts.
8. Augustine Neto Adhola – CECM for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development.

The Approval hearings are being conducted in accordance with Article 179(2)(b) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, read together with Section 35 of the County Governments Act, 2012, and Standing Order 195(4) of the Siaya County Assembly Standing Orders.

The Committee is expected to table its reports and recommendations on the nominees before the House within the course of the week.
