Pursuant to the provisions of section 14[1] of the Urban Areas and Cities [Amendment] Act, 2019, the County Assembly is mandated to vet the nominees for appointment to municipal boards.

The vetting exercise is scheduled for three days running from Wednesday, 16th August 2023 to Friday, 18th August 2023.

First nominee to appear before the committee was Mr. Ismael Noor Onyango who displayed in-depth knowledge on labor legislations and averred to use his knowledge and relevant experience to lobby and mobilize for resources for Bondo municipality.

The second nominee, Dr.Joshua Otieno Agola, whose background is in computer science and software security and integration, indicated that his experience on research, report and proposal writing will be of great importance in the management and running of the municipality.

The other nominee who appeared before the vetting committee was Mrs.Loice Adhiambo Otieno who as a social worker and community development expert. She asserted the need to employ her acquired skill to listen to and address the needs of the people of Bondo.

The last nominee of the day was Mr. Peter Ochieng Odero representing the association of the informal sector (boda boda sector) who showed his devotion and commitment to champion for the rights and better the livelihood of those around Bondo Municipality.

Tomorrow, Thursday, 17th August, 2023, the Sectoral Committee on Lands, Physical Planning, Surveying and Housing is expected to vet six other nominee for the said Appointments.
