HISTORY AND GOVERNMENT STUDENT FROM NYADHI SECONDARY SCHOOL VISITS THE COUNTY ASSEMBLY ON AN EDUCATIONAL TOUR.

History and Government students from Nyadhi Secondary School in Central Alego Ward in the company of their teachers were today treated to a tour of the County Assembly to have a practical learning session on the devolved system of government and the operations of the County Assembly.
The educational trip aligns with the academic curriculum and learning objectives that provides the students with a unique opportunity to reinforce the classroom concepts in a dynamic and interactive setting.
The forty (40) form three and four students were privileged to have a practical session that encourages critical thinking, problem solving and team building skills beyond the classroom setup and also enhance performance.
In an effort to understand the legislative, oversight and representative mandate of the assembly, the students were taken through the law making process, structure of the devolved system of government, revenue sources of the county government and the challenges that the county governments face.
The students visited the County Assembly Chambers where they learnt about how the Plenary is conducted, the sections of the house, sitting arrangement of the house leadership and other members and the mandate of the various sectoral committees.
The County Assembly of Siaya provides an open and well interactive platform for learning purpose. Schools that wish to visit the Assembly can place their formal request through their respective Member of County Assembly, or by contacting the office of the County Assembly Clerk indicating the name of the institution, the preferred date of visit, as well as the number of students/pupils and the accompanying staff.
